OUR VISION is for every Australian fisher to enjoy rich and satisfying experiences while fishing — now, and forever — and for all Australians to embrace the positive influence that recreational fishing can have on our society.

Fishotopia’s MISSION

To influence positive growth and transformation in the recreational fishing sector by helping each and every fisher become better at what they love doing — fishing!

The Inner Circle’s MISSION

To create an inspiring and supportive community for passionate recreational fishers to innovate, collaborate, learn and celebrate fishing, while also building a nation-wide and international network of fishing mates, in line with the Fishotopia VISION.

Recreational fishing is Australia’s heritage. It’s intrinsically woven into the fabric of our culture. When you think about it, it has the power to heal many of our society’s woes… but you have to THINK about it.

Not only does it get us off our butts, away from our screens and back into the wilds, it teaches us about ecosystems, their fragility and our place in them, as both predator and protector. It teaches us empathy, as well as humility — and much, much more… when you think about it.

~Jo Starling, co-founder of Fishotopia.

“Sky is falling” prophecies of imminent doom-and-gloom, accompanied by over-the-top shut-downs of recreational fishing activity… Unfortunately, these both appear to be a growing part of the playbooks of our state governments and their fisheries management bureaucracies these days. In case you missed it, some remarkable and very alarming news has emerged from Western Australia in […]
The on-line publication of an ABC News item on 14 June, 2021, marked the first time most of us had heard about a startling new assessment concerning the depletion of Spanish mackerel stocks along the eastern seaboard of Australia. According to this news report, a meeting of the East Coast Spanish Mackerel Working Group in […]

people often ask me whether My Floggy was worthwhile... it's been a while since I posted, but this video from Starlo Gets Reel on YouTube shows where I'm at today. So, you tell me... 😉

My Fly Gear Gap Year - Jo Starling
In the 1980s, '90s and early 2000s, Arthurs Lake in the Tasmanian Central Highlands was the state's premier trout water. But its fishing fortunes declined ra...

Couple of chunks from the Native Watercraft yesterday 🙂 in such good nick! Exhilarating, torrid battle to get them out of their lairs, long enough to get both back on the reel. Thank goodness for the direct drive propeller on my ‘yak!!!

If you are a serious angler… possibly even an addicted angler (as we are), then you belong in Starlo’s Inner Circle!

Members of this premium club are the “one percenters”. As such, they enjoy direct access to Starlo (and each other) through a totally private group forum that is fast becoming the “thinking anglers’ meeting place”. But that’s just the beginning. As part of Starlo’s Inner Circle, you’ll also have full membership to a growing library of incredibly detailed how-to features, in-depth articles, magazines, e-books and even activities for the kids… AND you’ll receive personal invitations to members-only events and get-togethers, as well as news of deals and new releases before they’re made public… PLUS videos and podcasts that no one else outside the group can access. Inner Circle Membership is without question the best way to fast-track your fishing success, and it costs less than the price of a packet of hooks every month. We reckon that once you’re in you’ll want to stay, especially as numbers will be capped, but should you wish to, you can opt out at any time.
